Serenity Flash Mob Activity

I am calling all Browncoats in all the large cities to organize a Serenity Flash Mob Activity. Next Thursday oct 13th 5pm. Come Thursday 5pm get every single Browncoat and Serenity fan you can muster to show up. Pass out a ton of flyers walking around the down town area. If its done right it should look like the browncoats are taking over and get a ton of publicity and press. Maybe even tip of the local media as to the activity.

A gift to my browncoat brethren
This link contains 4 tracks from the Serenity score, that Mr. Whedon himself leaked to this here interweb. its not spoilerish in the least, but it gives you a good indication of David Newman's scoring ability and, i will say, he definitely did a nice job meshing up with Greg Edmonson's work from the series.

That's good for a week, then bye-bye. Or, rather, by then, the score will be out for purchase, so buy-buy.

The great Flyer Caper (Pts. 1&2)
Last Saturday, I went up to the Liberty Tree Mall, where I dispensed about 150 bright neon flyers with our Big Damn Heroes on them. It was rather exciting and also a little nerve racking. I figure if 5% of the people who got a flyer end up being interested, then I'm "just happy to be doing good works."

Depending on the weather, I'll be going down to Revere Showcase Cinema at about 9:30pm. If any browncoats want to meet, I'd be happy to catch you. Just holler in the comments.

If Ophelia screws up the weather this weekend, I'll be out NEXT Saturday after attending this:

Wash: Can I suggest something that doesn't involve violence, or is this the wrong crowd for that?

The Great Flyer Caper
So, yesterday, I spent $105.41 which I didn't have on getting copies of the 9 posters (on 3 different colours of paper). 100 of each. It'll be the best 100 bucks I ever spent.

So I've got 900 posters from there, and I'm using work resources to come up with as much more as I can. The revere caper will probably have more white than coloured paper, but its the mesage. If anyone has other posters they've created, send them to me. I'll do up dupes and start pasting them up wherevere I can.

Also, if you want to shamelessly plug this sad, small LJ community in hopes of adding some more browncoats before the BDM, that would not be a bad thing. =)

I don't think I've ever heard this theory before, so I'm putting it out there:

Firefly is the Obi-Wan Kenobi of Sci-Fi TV.

There, I said it.

If Firefly had remained on the air, it would be a certain phenomenon. No doubt. Joss Whedon breeds fanaticism, intensity. Look at the rabid fan base of Buffy/Angel.

However, its nothing compared to the rabidity of the Firefly fans, also known as Browncoats. This fan base has done things, has been so intense about their love for it, that it fell of the air in Nov. 2002, and at the end of Sept 2005, it will be a major motion picture. And you want tell me that's not power?

"Strike me down and I'll become more powerful than you can ever imagine." ~Obi-Wan Kenobi

How many "failed" TV shows get cancelled and become major motion pictures?

Two. One of them is in the same genre, you may have heard of it: Star Trek.
The other is Police Sqaud, known on the big screen as Naked Gun. Thats it.

Mal: "What does that make us?"
Zoe: "Big Damn Heroes, sir."
Mal: "Ain't we just."

In 3 weeks, the new beginning rocks the world. Firefly is dead. Long live Serenity. (Oh, and fuck Fox)

Big Damn Flyer Drop
Greetings Boston Browncoats who are reading this.

The big damn movie opens in 3 weeks. I think its time to kick up the marketing machine. I plan on hitting some theatres this weekend to start postering. I'll be in Danvers (Loews @ Liberty Tree Mall; THIS Sat. 9pm; out back) and Revere (Showcase @ Rte 60; NEXT Sat. 9pm; Somewhere).

I'm stealing posters from here:

And I'm hitting every car I can. If you want in, just show up and look for the guy papering cars. You'll see me.
But if it helps, i look like This.

"No power in the 'Verse can stop me."

First post!
Sorry, couldn't resist the horrible title.

The goal of this community, slowly, is to get the Boston, Ma.-based Browncoats organized and ready to do some guerilla marketing in Beantown and beyond. I don't have much (money or otherwise), but I'd love to get a bunch of folks together and start postering Boston-area Theaters, walls, streets, everything.

Maybe we could get together early in September (either before or after Labor Day), sit down, throw a couple of pints back, and discuss strategy?

You can find my IM here:

If you've got thoughts, please post. If you know boston folks who aren't here, lets get them join. Remember one thing:
Just because we've got one movie doesn't mean the battle is over. Its not over 'til Joss says its over, and not a moment before.
